Upon arrival at my new home, Dad carried me in his arms and ran upstairs. I didn't have a clue where he was taking me to until he opened the room door and sitting on the bed was this sweet but rather pale lady who looked very surprised when she saw me. Daddy asked her, "You feeling better? Is this the right breed, your favourite..Labrador Retriever? She's yours now. Only then did I realize I was actually a gift from Dad to Mom (Veron). She gave me a warm hug and a big kiss to welcome me, and then leaned over to kiss my grinning Dad. I felt at home right away for I knew I was in good hands.
Dad and Mom gave me a warm shower in their bath and dried me with a hairdryer, (also my first hair-drying experience). I enjoyed the water, although I'd very much preferred cold water on me, but the hot air was unbearable. Dad and Mom were excitedly discussing what my name would be. I was happy as I didn't like my old name - "Doggie" which the breeder called me. Dad insisted my name had to begin with the alphabet "J" just like his. It didn't take long for Mom to come up with JODIE which I later found many people mispronouncing it as JUDY. Sigh…whatever..
Anyway, I was tugged to "bed" on a rug with a towel (my "blanket") at the corner of the room and that was my first night with my new loving parents, in my new and cozy home. Hmmm.. my home…sweet…home……Zzzz..zz
