Welcome a New Puppy at Home
The puppy should enjoy this process so make sure that you give him a treat after the entire process has been completed.

The arrival of a new puppy to your home is an event that is filled with lots of fun and joy.

  • The first step should be to select a name for the newest member of the family. The name should be unique to prevent confusion
  • Some toys and games should be made available for the puppy to play with. The toys should be large and strong enough so that the puppy cannot put them in his mouth.
  • Your puppy’s toys should be changed from time to time so that the puppy does not get bored with them. Balls and rings are the best toys for puppies as they enjoy playing with them.
  • A dog needs to be given a bath once in a while. Consult the local vet about what kind of shampoo should be used while giving your dog a bath.
  • A brush should also be used to scrub him down thoroughly and a nail cutter should be used to cut his nails.
  • The puppy should enjoy the whole bathing experience so make sure that you give him a treat after bath time is over.
  • In order to lose their baby teeth, puppies have a tendency to keep chewing objects and hence finding out more about them.
  • Specific toys meant for chewing should be given to the puppy so that he will stay away from your shoes as well as the furniture in your house.
  • A collar should also be bought for the dog. The collar should be of the right size and not too tight nor too loose. An ideal collar will allow two fingers to be inserted between the puppy’s neck and the collar. This fitting should be checked regularly as the puppy keeps growing.
  • The puppy’s dental needs should not be neglected either. A proper canine toothbrush and toothpaste should be purchased after consultation with your vet.
  • An identification card that contains the name, address and contact number of the dog owner should be attached to the collar of the dog. Some people insert a microchip into the dog after the consulting the vet so that the dog can be found easily in case he is lost. A qualified and reputed veterinary doctor should be consulted in order to take good care of your dog. He should conduct regular health check-ups for your dog.
