Fatty's Diary Week 4

My naughty girl, Fatty, has been dominating my site lately. Finally, I am able to steal some air time off her and say something here...

I bet she has told you a lot of her stories. Except for the parts that make me look silly, the rest are all true. She is indeed quite creative and funny, isn’t she? I hope all of you enjoyed the posts so far.

I grew up with dogs, but Fatty is probably the luckiest one. She came into my life when I was relatively more steady and at a time when I could choose what kind of projects to take on. Therefore, not only could I afford to buy her more stuff, but am also able to spend more time with her. Time spent together is, of course, the most valuable. After all, dogs only ask for our time and love. Oh, and that we provide them food, too.

She is the only dog that I literally watched grow up, from the moment she was conceived in her mama’s body till now. The hand-feeding, the training, the schooling – many people thought I was a little crazy. But I feel that if your dog is your family, what’s wrong with doing all that? You would hand feed your child, you would teach them and send them to school, right? And since I don’t have a family of my own here in Malaysia, Fatty is all I have. Me + Fatty + My House = Our Home.

We were really glad to have been invited by PURINA ONE to take part in their 30-Day Performance Challenge. I remember when Fatty posted her first diary entry, a lot of people were impressed by how shiny her coat was. Trust me, that wasn’t some sort of Photoshop effect. It's her real coat! And you know, it made me, her Poh Poh, feel soooo proud. We all want our kids to look healthy and fit, after all.

Actually one of the things I like best about PURINA ONE is that ever since Fatty started on it, her stools are smaller and more firm, which really is of a big help to me. The silly girl usually picks my busiest times to do her “business”, like when I’m running late and rushing out for work, or when I have just finished cleaning the garden, or right after her bath when she’s all clean. Her “business” used to be big, messy and hard to clean. But because PURINA ONE is more nutrient-dense, she eats less, which means smaller, more compact “outputs”. It’s much easier to manage her “business” now, which really saves me time and hassle!

She is, of course, even more active than before. Her teeth and gum are healthier. Her joints are stronger. And yes, sometimes that is a headache for me because it means she runs even faster and I have to keep up with her. Maybe it’s time for me to buy a bicycle so I can match her speed!

The whole PURINA ONE journey has been a really good experience for the both of us. As you can see from her third video post, Fatty has already recommended PURINA ONE to her brother, Strong Boy. And she will continue to share the good things with her other siblings and friends.

Fatty's Diary Week 3

When we first got the call from PURINA ONE, Poh Poh was quite surprised. She asked the jie jie over the phone, “My dog is so black, she doesn’t really show up well in photographs. Are you sure you want to feature my dog?”

Jie jie said, “Yes, we like the bond between Fatty and you!”

That was how I got on the PURINA ONE 30-day Performance Challenge.

I may not be your ‘love-at-first-sight’ kind of dog but I am quite well-known in my neighborhood. Don’t mess with me – I have lived here longer than most other dogs.

Actually, Poh Poh doesn't need a house. But because she always has dogs around her, she decided that a house would be better than a condo. Which means, the house is really for me and not for her. And she chose to buy my house in Desa Parkcity because the park there is dog-friendly. If you drop by my neighborhood on Sundays, you’ll discover that the park is just like a big carnival for dogs!

Anyway, the park is where I had my first ever commercial shoot. Look at all that green. Isn’t it beautiful? See all the gor gor and jie jie there? They are the ones responsible in making me look good in every shot.

At first, all the gor gor and jie jie were scared of me. It’s only normal because I am big and tough. However, as we spent more time together, they realised I am actually quite gentle. When they finally worked up the courage to pet me, they could feel how soft my coat is. I am sure you can also tell from my coat’s shine. It has always been like this. But after having been on PURINA ONE for three weeks, it’s a lot shinier than before.

Ah, it feels so good being a superstar. When Poh Poh tried to touch up her make-up, the photographer told her, “No one is shooting you. We’re shooting your dog!”

Hahahaha.

When they yelled, “Action!”, I ran up and down the park with Poh Poh. Everybody kept asking me if I was tired. But no one asked Poh Poh.

Hahahaha.

I wasn’t tired, of course. I have very good stamina. Again, I think it has to do with PURINA ONE. I feel stronger, my muscles are firmer and I have more energy. Overall, my body condition is so much better.

I pity the poor gor gor who had to release me and then run faster than me. Maybe he should eat PURINA ONE too!

Poh Poh used to complain that it was difficult to take good photos of me. Most times, you could hardly see my eyes. But look at these shots now.

Fatty's Diary Week 2

Three years ago, 5 lovely puppies - Missy B, Grumpy, Strong Boy, Bobo and Fatty - were born. The veterinarian told Poh Poh (Chui Ling) the 5 of us would grow to be very big. There was no way she could keep all of us, so she had no choice but to give my brothers and sisters away. I still remember her crying so hard when she had to give away my first sister, Missy B. I was on the “give-away” list too, but the day before my “new master” came for me, I fell ill. (Such perfect timing!) So I traded places with Bobo, and that's how I got to stay with my Poh Poh – I am the lucky one!

I got lucky again when the gor gors and jie jie's in PURINA ONE found out that Poh Poh and I have a very strong bond. They then asked me to take part in the PURINA ONE 30-Day Performance Challenge. I used to find dry food extremely boring. Just imagine, if you are given the same type of food every meal every day - how would you feel? Exactly! However, PURINA ONE Smartblend is something else! It contains a combination of tender meaty morsels and crunchy, protein-packed bites. It tastes much better than ordinary dry food. I started off with the chicken and rice formula. I am sure you can tell how healthy my coat is. Shiny! The secret lies in the omega fatty acids found in the food. Why am I so knowledgable?

Fatty's Diary Week 1

Hello! My name is Fatty! I know I am not fat. I shouldn't have been called Fatty. But what to do? My Poh Poh (grandmama), Chui Ling, is a TV host. Her job is to "talk" and she always has a microphone. There is no way I can argue or overthrow her "authority". Even though I am hot and sexy, my name is still Fatty, or in Chinese, "Fei Mui".

Poh Poh is always asked, "What dog do you have?" It's a good thing that she has a way with words because it is really hard to describe me. You definitely won't have a clue what breed I am by looking at me…. Once upon a time, there was a brown long-haired Irish Setter (my dad) who fell in love with a white short-haired bull terrier (my mom)... That's where the story begins. That's where I began too...

Mom had first class treatment all the way during our birth. There are 5 of us – Missy B, Grumpy, Bobo, Strong Boy and myself. The doctor said we were very weak and asked Poh Poh to prepare for the worst. Moreover, my mom wasn't able to produce milk for us. Poh Poh had no choice but to hand-feed us, using the best milk powder available in the market to make sure that we all were healthy and happy.

Look at how I've grown. I'm just as big as Poh Poh! Haha! She likes to run me, oops, I think it should be the other way around – I like to run her. I wonder if she knows I am already 22kg as Poh Poh insists on carrying me sometimes!

I also go to training school for obedient classes. But I always pretend to forget everything every time I come home, just so I can go to school to play again! Hmm...I would say my life has been wonderful so far. I love Poh Poh. And she loves me too. But when she became some sort of food icon in Malaysia, I started to envy her. She always has good food to eat but where is mine? Then, she discovered PURINA ONE.
